Brighton: A Fresh Clean Brush Font for Campaign Clarity

It’s 9:47 a.m. on launch day—and I’m squinting at my phone screen, scrolling through Instagram previews of our new summer content series. One thumbnail feels off. Not the photo. Not the color grade. The headline. It’s set in a script font we’ve used before—elegant, yes, but soft-edged and slightly indistinct at 280px wide. My thumb hovers. I tap back. Then I open the Script Amp folder and double-click Brighton.

Brighton isn’t just another script font. It’s a fresh clean brush font—hand-drawn with confident strokes, generous spacing, and subtle texture that reads like ink on watercolor paper. No frills, no excessive swirls. Just clarity with character. It lands somewhere between editorial warmth and digital precision: friendly enough for a small-biz newsletter, bold enough for a YouTube thumbnail competing in a sea of red arrows and ALL CAPS.

We dropped Brighton into three key places that morning: the Instagram Reel cover (headline only), the Pinterest pin banner (“New Launch Inside”), and the email banner above the fold. In each case, it solved the same problem: making short, high-intent text instantly legible *and* unmistakably human. Not sterile. Not chaotic. Just clear—with a quiet pulse of personality.

Here’s what makes Brighton work so well across fast-moving campaign assets:

We used it for a client’s online shop campaign last month: five product teasers across Instagram, Pinterest, and email. Each featured one line of copy—“Hand-poured. Small batch. Ready now.”—set in Brighton over muted linen textures. No logo lockup needed. The font itself became a recognizable signature across touchpoints. Not because it’s flashy, but because it’s *consistent in its clarity*.

Brighton shines brightest in display roles: headlines, callouts, logo-style text, campaign labels (“Spring Edit,” “Early Access,” “Just Dropped”), and decorative titles. It’s not built for long paragraphs—but then, it shouldn’t be. That’s where your trusted sans serif or modern serif comes in. We pair Brighton with Inter Bold for buttons and subheads, and sometimes layer it lightly behind a serif like Literata for contrast in editorial-style banners. The pairing feels intentional—not decorative for decoration’s sake.

And yes—we checked the details before committing. Brighton includes standard and discretionary ligatures (so “fi” and “fl” flow naturally), true italics (not slanted), OpenType features for alternate characters, and full multilingual support—including extended Latin, Vietnamese, and Romanian diacritics. It ships in .OTF and .WOFF2, so it works natively in Figma, Adobe apps, and web projects. Most importantly? It’s a commercial font licensed for ads, templates, merchandise, and client deliverables—no surprise restrictions when exporting a Canva template or handing off to a dev team.

One thing we learned fast: Brighton performs best against clean backgrounds. On light surfaces, its brush texture breathes. On dark, use a crisp white or soft off-white—never low-contrast gray. And avoid overlaying it directly onto busy imagery unless you add a subtle drop shadow or matte background shape. We tested it over gradient overlays and found it held up better than expected—but only when letter spacing was opened by +20 units and tracking tightened slightly for cohesion.

It also thrives in moments where tone matters more than formality. Think webinar promotion banners (“You’re Invited”) or course launch graphics (“Start Here”). Brighton doesn’t say “corporate”—it says “we made this for you.” That subtle shift changes how people pause, read, and remember. Not because it’s louder—but because it feels more *present*.

We’ve used Brighton in YouTube thumbnails for creators launching digital products—paired with a bold sans serif subtitle and minimal iconography. In every case, the font helped the core message land in under two seconds. Not by being aggressive, but by being *unmistakable*. No decoding required. Just recognition—fast, warm, and human.

It’s also become our go-to for branded content series: the kind where each post shares a consistent visual rhythm but lives across formats—Reels, Stories, static posts, email headers, even printed workshop handouts. Because Brighton scales cleanly from 16px (as a subtle watermark) to 120px (as a hero banner), it gives us one typographic anchor across all outputs. That saves time. More importantly, it builds recognition without repetition.

If you're choosing a script font for real campaign work—not mood boards or mockups—ask yourself: does it clarify, or complicate? Does it invite reading—or ask for forgiveness? Brighton invites. It clarifies. It fits into workflows, not around them.

It’s not the flashiest script in the Script Amp library. But it might be the most useful. Especially when your audience scrolls fast, thinks faster, and remembers only what feels both clear and kind.
